1. Are you having any data uploaded on to your USB sticks?

If so, work out the total amount of file sizes to be uploaded. You will need to work this out to determine the memory capacity you “at least” need. For example, 500MB of data won’t fit on to a drive that only has a memory capacity of 256MB. To find out the size of your files simply ‘right click’ on them and select ‘properties’.

2. What memory size should you offer your recipients?

That’s down to you and possibly your budget. However, it’s worth considering that on average 1GB and 2GB are currently the most popular memory sizes companies like to offer their recipients. It’s also worth noting that if you are having data uploaded on to your drives (some memory suppliers such as USB-FlashDrive.co.uk can do that for you) there may not be a lot of memory left for your clients to use freely (unless they delete your file – that’s if you haven’t requested your data to be locked on). Therefore, if you are having data uploaded to your drives it’s up to you to work out how much free memory space you want to offer your recipients.

3. Did you know that for just a few pence more per unit you can sometimes double the capacity of your memory size?

It is well worth asking your memory stick supplier for quotes on larger memory sizes. Also note, the memory inside USB Sticks is a commodity and prices fluctuate on a very regular basis. Generally prices fall over time, so, if you’ve had a quote in the past it’s likely the next quote will be surprisingly cheaper the next time you enquire.
