We recently showcased our widest range of USB Flash Drives at the UK’s only national trade exhibition – The Trade Only National Show 2012. We’ll now take a look at what USB Flash Drive models were most popular throughout the show and answer some frequently asked questions!
As you may recall, the recent earthquake in Japan had an impact on Flash Memory prices and caused them to rise sharply. We previously blogged on this topic (see past blog here) and promised to keep you posted on the progress. Fortunately, prices have come down slightly and are currently stable since the terrible disaster. Chris Love, Managing Director of USB-FlashDrive comments below on the current and possible future situation:
But major Japanese suppliers (such as Toshiba who supply 30% of the world’s Flash memory) have said factories producing these chips were largely unaffected by the temblor, nor are they in areas where blackouts will force production to stop. While it appears by their statements that the memory markets are overreacting to the earthquake, analysts say that the price increases may highlight a graver issue for the global chip industry: damage to Japanese component and material suppliers vital to chip production.
